Three Months Old!

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008 by Sean

The kids turned three months old on November 4th — better known to most of us as Election Day.  We stayed up late into the night (OK, it was only 11:00 but that’s late for us) to watch the results and then to watch President-elect Obama’s address in Chicago (that was actually quite late).  Since the official website didn’t have onesies that small, Candy made homemade Obama onesies.  Veronica wore hers to accompany Candy to the polls, but had to keep it under a sweater so as not to violate Virginia election law.

Later that week we got the surprising news that Candy’s dad had had a heart attack.  After a triple bypass at Crawford Long, he is now home resting comfortably, looking forward to the best medicine in the world — a visit from his grandchildren!

That weekend, Jeannie and Brian brought the kids down from Massachusetts for an early mini-Thanksgiving with us and Brian’s sister’s family.  Riley and Veronica were so excited to finally meet Bridget and Joseph!  Meanwhile, the rest of the family gathered in NY to celebrate Brooke’s second birthday.

Last week we moved the twins out of a shared crib in our room into their own cribs in the nursery.  They were a little fussy the first night, but have been fine since then, and in fact have slept through the night since Sunday.  On Tuesday, November 11th, Candy and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary.  Late last week I took what should hopefully be my last big business trip of the year out to L.A.  In addition to my customers, I visited with the Harringtons and the West Coast Murphys, and managed to get out of L.A. just in time for the wildfires

This week we are enjoying the fact that the babies are sleeping through the night and are getting ready for our first really big road trip — heading to Georgia for Thanksgiving!

A Couple of Busy Weeks

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 by Sean

We’ve been very busy the last couple of weeks. Last weekend, we took the twins for their first road trip to NY. On Friday we visited my alma mater and celebrated Dad’s birthday. Saturday some of my aunts came over to meet the kids, and Candy and I went out to dinner to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our first date. On our way home on Sunday, we stopped for a visit with the Roths and with Mike and Nikki and the kids.

For Halloween, we had three different sets of costumes we had received as gifts, so we started celebrating a day early to give them a chance to wear each outfit. We took them trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, but Riley fell asleep after the first house. Veronica made it all the way around the block, and then we hung out on our front porch and handed out candy to the many other children who came by.

Yesterday we hosted the 12th Annual Posse Thanksgiving. Marc fried a turkey and we had many other tasty side dishes!
