Weeks 7 and 8

Monday, September 29th, 2008

For our adoring fans who’ve been waiting for new pictures…

The past couple of weeks have found us settling into more of a routine, and the best part has been that I haven’t had travel for work in over a week!  The twins are eating and sleeping and growing like weeds.  Last Saturday, Candy and I went to our friends’ Mike & Jen’s wedding, and left the kids with Aunt Lauren babysitting.  They were so well behaved for her, and ate more than they ever did for us.  Then on Friday night, we kept a longstanding double date we’d planned with Mike and Steve to see Kathy Griffin at DAR Constitution Hall.  It was a good week to see her show!

This week is end of quarter which means I’ll be working late, but at least I won’t be traveling, which is good since in October and November it looks like I will be on the road a lot.

Milestones

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

In the past two weeks we have marked a number of milestones.  September 4th was the twins’ one month birthday.  Last Friday, September 5th, marked the end of the 30 day period during which their birth parents could have changed their minds about the adoption.  We are now officially a family, free and clear.

Milestones

Last Sunday was Candy’s baby shower, so I had my first extended afternoon of solo parenting.  Fortunately for me they were very good and slept almost the whole time!

Mommy’s Shower

This week they were particularly fussy during the day.  They seem to be sleeping fine at night, but not as well during the day.  Our mission for this weekend is to get them used to sleeping outside the crib.

Week Six

Labor Day Weekend

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Just about every year since we have been married, we’ve had a big cookout at our house for either Memorial Day or Labor Day.  This year, we were planning on doing it for Labor Day, but with the arrival of the twins, we were not excited to have the usual 75-100 people at our house.  Instead we opted to host a small gathering on Saturday of our friends from college.  The idea was to give everyone a chance to catch up and also to meet the twins.  The turnout was great, and we had visitors from as far away as New York (Marc and Allison), New Jersey (the Roths), and North Carolina (Major Jon).  We also welcomed Eran and Nilana and their family back to the east coast after a four year exile in Portland, Oregon!

Sunday we had a calm day, which the twins (and Candy and I) needed after the excitement on Saturday.  We even managed to catch up on some of our Netflix that have been sitting for almost a month!  On Monday, Shawna and Ben brought the kids over and we all went to the playground before they headed back to NJ.
